Objective
Biochemistry involves studying the chemistry of living things such as substances, compounds and processes. The three years B.Sc Biochemistry(Hons.) provides a background in chemistry and biological science and permits flexibility in meeting student interest in the basic sciences of mathematics, chemistry and biology to meet the needs for graduate study in most fields of modern science.
Duration of Course
This Honours course is a full time three years (six semesters) Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate is required to have passed the higher secondary , 10+2 or equivalent of any recognised Board or Council in Science with (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) in 2nd division.
Higher Study
After BSc Biochemistry , students can do MSc and PhD in Medical Biochemistry. Industrial biochemistry, molecularbiology and genetics etc. Study of Biochemistry has good scope like in teaching in medical and dental college, clinical research, pharma industry, pathology labs, nutrition biochemistry, etc.
Higher studies in Biochemistry would help in performing their role as Technical Sales Representative, Assistant Scientist, Biochemist, Research Assistant, Research Scientist, Business Process Analyst, and Pharmacist.
Scopes
Biochemistry finds application in clinical and forensic science and in the food and pharmacological industries. Biochemists are contributing to advances in a wide variety of areas, including health, agriculture and the environment. The work environment could be the Government, Private sector, Laboratories, Hospitals, Medical Instrument Companies, Colleges, Universities, and other Educational and Research Institutions as Scientists, Research Associates, etc.
